Many clients want to protect their building asset and do so by embarking on a formal sustainability or health and well-being rating system. This can attract higher rent yields, market demand and ultimately add more value than non-related equivalents.
A BREEAM assessment uses recognised measures of performance, which are set against established benchmarks, to evaluate a building’s specification, design, construction and use. The measures used represent a broad range of categories and criteria from energy to ecology. They include aspects related to management processes, health and well-being, energy, transport, water, waste, land use and ecology and pollution. There are five possible ratings which can be achieved: pass, good, very good, excellent and outstanding.
