Audit Plus

The Audit Plus project , funded under the European research framework LIFE-CET-22 , aims to help energy-intensive industries (EIIs) improve their energy efficiency through energy audit schemes, using case studies in Ireland, Spain and Poland.

Audit Plus

The Audit Plus project , funded under the European research framework LIFE-CET-22 , kicked off in October 2023 and will run for the next 3 years. This project seeks to improve the energy audit schemes in energy-intensive industries, using a practical approach, using case studies in Ireland, Spain and Poland.

The project will support IIEs with operational groups to provide technical, financial, regulatory and training support to begin their energy efficiency journey and assist them with the implementation of energy efficiency measures, which will enable them to meet EU emissions reduction targets. It is hoped that it will be possible to replicate results and learnings in other industrial sectors.

Key Objectives of the Project:

  • Establish working groups in 4 different industrial regions of the EU to understand current gaps and needs to increase the impact of energy audits carried out in IIE.
  • Transform the available technical and regulatory knowledge and support tools related to the implementation of energy efficiency measures and/or renewable energy generation, into practical knowledge for stakeholders in the value chain.
  • Reduce the energy intensity of industrial processes in the IBDs involved in LIFE Audit Plus .
  • Bring together regulators, associations, private companies and technologists to encourage new standards and financial schemes to increase investment in the implementation of energy efficiency measures identified in the energy audit process.

Other Operational Objectives of the Project:

  • Activation of regional energy efficiency ecosystems.
  • Provision of tools and resources to cover gaps identified by regional ecosystems.
  • Implementation of a comprehensive energy efficiency consulting service for Energy Intensive Industries.
  • Develop a sustainability plan and replication and exploitation of results.
  • Dissemination and communication , including networking with other CET projects.

It is anticipated that the project will reduce the energy intensity of industrial processes by at least 10% in 82 energy-intensive industries involved in the project in the following sectors and countries:

  • Ireland: pharmaceutical, chemical and healthcare sectors
  • Spain: ceramic sector and fishing and food processing sectors
  • Poland: food processing sector
