Commercial BER Certification
A BER (Building Energy Rating) is an indication of the energy performance of a building and is demonstrated on a scale from A to G, with G being very poor. A BER is typically required for sale or lease of a property, and for all newly constructed buildings.
Improving a Building’s BER
Improving a building’s BER can have many benefits such as:
- Increased Asset Value
Tenants and investors are keen to occupy buildings which reflect their sustainability and low carbon goals which are aligned with Net Zero by 2050. Buildings which demonstrate higher energy performance are aligned with these targets and are very attractive to conscious tenants and investors. - Lower Energy Costs
Better performing buildings consume less energy and have lower running costs compared to under-performing buildings. Implementing energy saving interventions over time allow businesses to enhance their bottom line and allocate saved funds to other essential operations. - Enhances Sustainability
A BER Pathway can outline a route to decarbonisation whereby all fossil-fuel-based systems within the building are gradually removed resulting in a reduced carbon footprint. - Better Quality of Life and improved Productivity
A follow-on effect from more energy-efficient buildings is improved thermal comfort for the building occupants. Buildings that can maintain controlled indoor temperatures, optimised ventilation systems, and sufficient lighting contribute to a healthier and more productive working environment.
Get Started : Your BER Pathway
Developing your BER pathway will help you achieve your desired BER.
Lawler Sustainability have developed an in-house algorithm which strategically outlines a pathway to achieve a desired BER. This algorithm can be tailored to suit your needs such as prioritising cost/benefit analysis over carbon savings, or potential levels of occupant disruption to intervention payback periods and implementation timescales. We have a team of energy modellers and engineers who are well experienced in delivering BER pathways based on Client’s needs and goals. We understand that not every building is the same and will require specific attention to determine practical solutions.
Our team can be with you through every step of the pathway, including Design Concepts, Project Management of delivering each intervention, and follow-on Facilities Management.
Lawler Sustainability and our sister company Lawler Consulting have over 40 years’ experience combined with specific focus on energy reduction projects and delivering energy-efficient buildings.
