Glint and Glare Analysis

Glint & Glare Analysis

In 2022, the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage have published Planning Permission exemptions for rooftop solar panels on homes and other buildings. As part of this new law, the Department have identified 43 No. Solar Safeguarding Zones around major airports, aerodromes and helipads around Ireland which will require a Glint and Glare assessment report to be carried out for proposed Solar PV systems located within these zones.

Solar Panel Glare Assessments

Streamline the Planning Process for Solar PV applications with a Glint and Glare Analysis. The outcome can reduce the risk of nearby receptors receiving glint and/or glare from the proposed PV panels.

Mapping of nearby receptors for Glint and Glare Analysis

Lawler Sustainability utilises a leading Solar Glare Hazard Analysis Tool (SGHAT) which determines if and when reflections may occur at selected receptors within the vicinity of the proposed project. If reflection is found to be present, further analysis is then conducted to determine the significance of the potential glare that could be experienced and cased, where there is significant glare found in the analysis, mitigation factors can then be discussed and assessed further.
