Early engagement in the planning phase and the development of a comprehensive CSR strategy were instrumental in the redevelopment of Abbey Creative Quarter.
CSR / ESG Strategy
Our engagement in early planning and design was imperative to the redevelopment of this brownfield in Kilkenny city centre and its longevity and sustainability.
The Abbey Creative Quarter development comprises the old Smithwick’s brewery in Kilkenny, known as The Brewhouse which will be turned into office space and the Mayfair Building will be converted into a modern public library.
Lawler Sustainability, in collaboration with the local authorities and energy agencies, developed a robust energy strategy for the Abbey Creative Quarter site.
Nearly Zero Energy Building
We began by identifying and outlining the energy efficiency guideline criteria for Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB), before designing a preliminary layout for an energy centre and corresponding district heating network for the site.
A comprehensive carbon roadmap was then developed. This roadmap would be crucial to transforming Abbey Creative Quarter from a brownfield site to a green site.
